Artem Stadnyk is 5 years old. On the day of his birth he was diagnosed with a lymphangioma of his head and his neck, since then the tumour has extended on the child’s face and neck, threatening his life. The tumour has affected the respiratory tract making breathing difficult for Artem so he now requires a tracheostomy (the tube in his trachea) to allow him to breathe. Artem has already undergone four operations in order to remove the tumour from his face and neck as well as the consequences of cavernoma (cerebral vascular neoplasms that led to neurological disorders). Externally, Artem’s tumor still looks shocking but if we compare the boy’s appearance on each of his photos after each operation, we can see that each operation has reduced the tumour and Artem is able to breathe much more easily now.
