The second month of autumn begins on a special date. October 1 is the International Day of the Elderly, proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations. And in Ukraine, it is also Veterans Day. This day is not just an opportunity to remind everyone of their human obligation to be caring and compassionate to the most respected part of society. It is also a reflection on the future destiny of mankind, its culture, the interconnection of generations. More than half of lonely people need help in their daily lives, especially today when many retirees are the main source of life for a pension that does not support a normal life.

When asked to tell about herself, Oleksandra Mikhailovna modestly and with a smile, as if she was immersed in the spit of the past years, starts her story, reluctantly, and constantly asks whether she is taking our working time, because she appreciates the time of others. In the first words, ordinary everyday history is quite typical of our society.
It's hard to imagine when life goes on in bed. We will make feel worthy lonely and immovable elderly when present them bed linen sets – to providing them with basic living conditions. We ask to donate money for buying a textile for sewing sets of bed linen. Lonely elderly will feel joy and care when they get a new set of bed linen. Since 2002 many lonely elderly and disabled people have received medical and social services and cares from specialists by the project "Home Care” of Caritas-Kyiv. Now we are taking care of about 100 people.
The excursion is probably a very common occurrence for many children and families today. Who at least once a year is not able to make trips to interesting fascinating places? And there are many poor families in Khmelnytsky, where parents cannot give children anything except love and necessities. And yet there are children in whom the family is associated with alcohol, drugs, beatings, insults, and every day is a constant gray routine. Usually, they are also teased at school by a "bully who has not seen anything".
Years go by... Carefree childhood is over along with the young age and its problems and happy events, loyal friends and passionate love. Deep autumn of life arrives outside of the window completely unnoticed... Helpless old age, severe incurable illnesses, and oppressive loneliness come along. As years go by we are unaware of how we will live in old age, whether there will be a piece of bread and medicines, someone to provide help and support. We ask for your help in the purchase of diapers for the elderly.
Homelessness is a big social problem in our country. Losing a home, people also lose the place where they can satisfy the basic needs in food, hygiene and rest. Several years ago our organization founded shelter for the homeless with the aim to give the second chance for a better life for homeless people ready to fight for their lives. Also, every year we arrange a common celebration of Christmas and Easter for the homeless and needy people of our town, to remind them about the better life they deserve. This year we are waiting for 100 people to come to Easter breakfast and ask you to help us to purchase food for preparation of Easter breakfast and making of food kits.
Good deeds are always relevant, and especially on the eve of Easter Holidays. Dear our benefactors, assistants, like-minded people, and caring people, we appeal to you for help to conduct an Easter rally for the wards of our project “Home care for displaced persons in Eastern Ukraine” and support the elderly on the eve of the Resurrection Bright Holiday. Most of them were left without family, documents, and houses and were forced to move to the territory of a foreign, but hospitable Kharkov and Kharkov region. Did they want to meet old age in an unfamiliar city and be alone with their troubles?..
Easter is a light holiday, it's baskets with fragrant patches and colorful echoes, it's joyful faces and a hollow of greetings "Christ is Risen!" And yet a generous Easter table is a symbol of heavenly joy. It is unlikely that many people, lovingly putting products into a beautiful basket, though that far from being able to put traditional Easter dishes on the table and that for many families even a Passover with crayons is a luxury... Among us, there are those who are not happy even holidays, those who are limited, financial or even physical. These are children with disabilities, orphans, families in difficult circumstances and the elderly, and such in our city is not enough.
An Easter basket for those who do not have families who are in helpless old age, serious illnesses, and oppressive loneliness. They count the last hryvnia for medicine. So their life and salvation are a scanty pension. We are gathering money for the Easter basket for 100 elderly people. One festive grocery set (paste, meat products, cheese, eggs, horseradish, butter) is required: 300 UAH. The total cost of the case is 30 000 UAH.
We ask all of you who are not indifferent to the plight of a single mother, Nastya, and her infant triplets, to help us acquire a twin crib for the babies. He husband has abandoned her and their three children, and her relatives are not offering any assistance either. The family has been left without any means of support, as no help whatsoever is forthcoming from any relatives. The assistance provided by the government doesn’t even cover the cost of diapers and food, and the babies are in urgent need of cribs which their mother is unable to find the money for. The family is currently being assisted by the Caritas Kyiv Charitable Foundation.
