Taking into account insufficient funding and hard financial situation, the Department of Neurosurgery of Odessa Regional Clinical Hospital badly needs assistance. Every year the Department of Neurosurgery treats 1,200-1,300 patients and administers pharmacotherapy and therapy of nervous system diseases including the brain, spinal marrow, and peripheral nervous system. Neurosurgeons perform about 600 operations annually. Regretfully, the funds allocated by the state do not allow of covering even the most necessary needs for health care of such number of patients.

You already know little Bogdan Dimitrov. Now he is 5. It is now three years that he combats with drowning consequences. We just remind: at age of one year and three months he fell down in a deep pit filled with water. When people managed to take him out, the child did not breathe. His heart stopped to beat twice – the first time before the ambulance arrives and the second time – on the way to the hospital. After the second stop, the doctors concluded: clinical death 12 minutes, brain dead, coma 3rd stage, no chances to live. However, Bogdan was alive.
Dear donors! Everyone who faced with the problem of child disability is familiar with the feeling of fear and helplessness before this grief. A handicapped child is a child, whose pain and experience of existence cannot be expressed in words or comparisons. Also, moms and dads, in families where children with disabilities grow up, in spite of any difficulties, every day, make their parental feat. They don’t only accept their children as they are, but often try to show people that such children are also happiness.
"What's wrong with my son?", this question did not go away from Maxim's mother lips within 2 months after the birth of his son. The boy was born by a cesarean, then he was immediately taken to the intensive care unit, diagnosing an abnormal hypoxia. Maxim was in a drug-induced dream, and the doctors could not explain to his mother what was wrong with her newborn boy.
Nazar is one of the twins of the Snigariovi family, there are five children in the family. This is an unusual boy: when he was born he had hypoxia of the brain, now he has an arachnoid cyst, and for the metabolic processes there corresponds a half-broken gene. "How did this affect the child?", You ask. Nazar suddenly stopped responding to his parents, began to fall asleep under the bed and swing on all fours.
We see them - shot down by cars, frozen, shot, immured in cellars, beaten, poisoned, starved, burnt, mutilated and sick ... They are homeless animals, but they are alive! We can not ignore that they need our help, because there is no one else they could rely on. Only a people.
How can one live when most of the internal organs work on the verge of failure and may fail you completely? How strong must be the human will to wake up every day and overcome everything again and again? We, as onlookers, will never really understand that. We can only help. Now Nastya’s lungs breathe with great difficulty, and an oxygen apparatus is required to support her. Also, her organism is emaciated, and special high-calorie nutrition is needed. To assimilate it, Nastya needs insulin, because she also has diabetes… She struggles with all her might, but she needs help!
Our purposeful boy Dmytro Bernaz is in dire need of rehabilitation. Dmytro has every chance to walk on his own, he only needs support and encouragement. Dmytro is a real fighter stubbornly making steps towards a healthy life on a daily basis. He has undergone two complex operations so far as well as a few rehabilitation. Dmytro is now 14 years old. For sick children of his age, cerebral palsy is one of the most difficult things to handle in their lives. It is particularly important to help Dmytro now because like all teenagers his body is developing and growing. Unless we all help Dmytro to learn how to walk now, he will never be able to do it himself.
You already know Kristina Buivol. This summer she has improved greatly. Very good results have been obtained just for several months. There can be nothing more heartwarming for the parents to see their child making progress. “Mom, today I stood by myself for several minutes, I made a couple of steps, kept balance and was walking with a stick!” These words of Kristina are good news for the parents after she stays in a wheelchair for 4 years! Now her eyes shine and she wants to live! She became more persevering and self-assured – now she is a quite another person.
The Hematological department of Odessa Children’s Clinical Hospital is in desperate need of controlled syringe pumps – the apparatuses for continuous dispensing of chemotherapy. For our department with 30 beds, it is necessary to have at least 2 special infusion pumps for intravenous administration of medications. An oncology child stays in the hospital together with the mother. Definitely, each of us saw, just once in life (by TV or live), a tired mother sitting near the infusion drip and keeping a watchful eye how a medication is being fed.
